BIRN Group, of which BIRN Germany is a part, has just released the third annual sustainability report. Although the group is not yet subject to the new EU requirements for sustainability reporting, we are already working systematically with data and documentation of our efforts across climate and environment, social responsibility, and good governance.
One of this year’s key focus areas has been the development of a double materiality assessment, which provides a clear picture of both BIRN Group’s impact on the world and the world’s impact on the group. This is an important step toward an even more data-driven and targeted approach to sustainability across the entire organization.
- At BIRN Germany, we support this direction and continue our efforts to align with the group’s ambition – making our contribution both meaningful and measurable. Recent initiatives include the installation of a more energy efficient compressor, as well as our ongoing commitment to training the next generation of our workforce, says Dennis Klimanek, Managing Director at BIRN Germany.
For BIRN Group, energy and resource consumption remain some of the most significant environmental focus areas, while employee turnover, age distribution, and occupational health and safety are central to the social agenda.
- The demand for documented sustainability efforts is steadily increasing – both in the market in general and from existing and new customers. BIRN Group is among the strongest in our industry in this area, thanks to our ability to recognize the importance of working with sustainability and making our initiatives visible and understandable to employees, customers and partners, says Claus Beier, Group CEO at BIRN Group.
